The New Hampshire Legislature gave final approval to a bill that would repeal 19th-Century laws in the state outlawing abortion. The 13-11 vote by the state Senate sent the measure to Republican Gov. Judd Gregg. The House approved the repeal in March. New Hampshire is the first of about 25 states with anti-abortion laws to try to repeal the statutes, said Marcy Wilder, staff attorney with the National Abortion Rights Action League. The move comes as the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments April 26 on a Missouri abortion case that could either amend or overturn the court’s 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion.
