Take a Pass on Variety of Australian Locations

Several Australian cities are offering a variety of passes and special tickets for transportation and sightseeing.

In Sydney you can buy a Sydney Explorer fare, good from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. The Sydney Explorer buses operate to 20 stops.

The entire circuit can be covered in less than an hour and a half. Buses run about every 16 minutes.

Based on the current rate of exchange, the pass costs about $8.50 U.S. for adults. A family of two adults and two or more children can get the ticket for about $21.25.

Similarly, the Melbourne Met Pass allows travel around the metropolitan area on trams, trains and buses. A one-day pass costs about $6.80; two days, $11, and a seven-day pass, $32.30. A family of two adults and two children can get the pass for $17, $33.15 and $102, respectively.

A train and tram map showing stops on each line comes with the pass. Also, it lists museums, gardens, sports arenas, galleries and shopping areas and how to get to each. Another booklet outlines the city’s attractions.

Other tickets also are available. A City Saver ticket allows 10 trips in Melbourne’s central business district for about $4.50. Two- or three-hour tickets allow unlimited travel on all transportation.

In Adelaide, an Adelaide Explorer Bus ticket costs $8.50. This ticket offers eight stopping points.

Perth has a TransPerth Sightseer Ticket that permits unlimited use of bus, train or ferry. A one-day ticket costs about $3.40 and a five-day ticket is $6.80.

A discount coupon booklet for sightseeing attractions, including river cruises, golf courses, theme parks and museums, comes with the ticket.
