BRUSSELS — Greg LeMond, newly crowned Tour de France champion, will skip the next two World Cup cycle races in Britain and Canada, his team director said today.
Team director Jose de Cauwer said the American will miss Sunday’s Summer International in Britain and next week’s Grand Prix des Ameriques in Canada because he wanted to take it easy for a while after his thrilling Tour de France victory last Sunday.
Instead of riding the Summer International in Newcastle, LeMond will take part in a small race in Bilzen, Belgium.
De Cauwer said LeMond will return to the World Cup circuit Aug. 12 for the San Sebastian classic.
