Texas Divorces: BIG Costs : Costs Mount Up With Texas Divorce Lawyers

WASHINGTON — If you have big bucks and want to hang on to them, don’t get divorced in Texas. A study released today shows wealthy clients pay more to “leading” divorce lawyers--$27,333--in Texas than in other states. The survey of 208 attorneys at prestigious law firms in 36 states shows their clients pay an average of $10,196 nationwide to obtain a divorce. California ranked second in average divorce costs, at $15,466. Florida was third at $15,400 followed by Illinois, $14,656; Massachusetts, $9,150; New York, $9,147, and New Jersey, $7,067.
