Calling for a Show-and-Tell in Art Funding
Many conservatives may not like four-letter words, but they would not be unduly upset by an occasional one in movies or books or by an occasional mildly suggestive scene on television.
It is the wholesale abdication of responsibility that has so many people up in arms. It is the spiritual, life-sustaining side of humanity that has been assaulted when we raise a generation whose language, sexual attitudes, respect for others and, yes, for self, often are ugly and distorted.
We cannot halt this flow of garbage by just shouting “Stop!” We can and will, however, object strenuously to supporting it with our tax dollars, and we can and will exercise financial pressure through our legal right to boycott.
