Medicare’s Hospital Care Deductible to Rise to $592
From United Press International
WASHINGTON — The amount of money a senior citizen must pay before receiving Medicare hospital benefits next year will increase by $32 to $592, the government announced Friday.
The Health Care Financing Administration said that the major reason for the increase is the estimated increase in the cost of drugs, labor and other products and services purchased by hospitals.
If Congress repeals the Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988, a new deductible might have to be calculated, officials said.
