Bell-Jeff 21, St. Genevieve 9--Bell-Jeff’s Sean Casagrande broke a scoreless tie with an 11-yard touchdown run two plays into the second half at Burroughs High.
The touchdown was set up by a 47-yard run by Alfredo Silva. Silva, who finished with 175 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown with six minutes to play.
Bell-Jeff quarterback Rod Chapman completed only two of 11 passes for 24 yards. Chapman didn’t throw a pass in the second half but ran five yards for a touchdown to give Bell-Jeff (2-5-1, 1-1) a 14-3 lead early in the fourth quarter.
St. Genevieve (2-5, 0-2) scored its only touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 65-yard hook-and-ladder pass from backup quarterback Cory Iaccino to Tim Pera, who lateraled to Mike Morilla, who scampered the remaining 55 yards for the score.
