BYE TO BAILEY: Attorney F. Lee Bailey has left the defense team of Dr. Thomas A. Gionis, accused of masterminding the 1988 attack on his ex-wife, Aissa Wayne--John Wayne’s daughter--and her companion. Bailey represented Gionis at his preliminary hearing, then disappeared from the scene. “I don’t think it’s right to say he was fired. There were no hard feelings at all,” said Catherine A. Vincent, another Gionis attorney. . . . She said Bailey’s “special reputation as a lawyer” is no longer needed to assure acquittal.
