True Conservatives

The reference in the Times article (“Growth is Key Issue in 2 City Council Races,” Nov. 1) on next week’s election referred to Ed Struiksma and Bob Trettin as “conservative,” with the implication that Abbe Wolfsheimer and Linda Bernhardt are therefore “liberal.”
I think it is time to redefine our terms. “Conservative” means keeping things as they are. Who better exemplifies that--the Bulldozer Eds, with the mowing down and building bigger and more structures, or those who want to see managed growth, with attention paid to the way we live.
The true conservatives are Abbe and Linda, not Ed and Bob.
