Datron Systems Says Profit Rose 16% in 2nd Quarter
Datron Systems Inc., a Simi Valley communications and defense electronics firm, reported a 16% increase in net income in the second quarter that ended Sept. 30 to $1 million from $880,000 a year earlier. Sales rose to $10.6 million from $8.9 million, a 20% gain.
The company attributed the increase to its diversification away from the defense industry, which five years ago accounted for 90% of its revenue but now accounts for just 50%.
In the six months that ended Sept. 30, Datron earned $1.9 million, up 30% from $1.5 million a year earlier. Sales rose 28% to $21.2 million from $16.6 million.
