Armed robbers early Sunday took more than $22,000 in cash, jewelry and clothing from a man who had stopped to change a flat tire on the Golden State Freeway near Gorman, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.

Charles Hastings, 32, of Van Nuys was about to change the tire near the Gorman freeway off-ramp at 3:40 a.m. when two men in a late-model sports car stopped on the freeway shoulder nearby. At gunpoint, the men took a briefcase containing $900 in cash, a gold watch, a gold necklace, clothes and a full-length black mink coat, sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Benton said.
