Indian Ceremonial Show Set in Santa Monica
American Indian artisans and artists will be among exhibitors at the Santa Monica Indian Ceremonial Show Friday through Jan. 14 at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
This show, scheduled semiannually for about 20 years, is produced by the husband-wife team of Alicia and Don Bullock. Among the highlights is an authentic Plains Indian Pow Wow, staged by Melvin and Glenda Ahhaitty, on Jan. 13 and 14. The Ahhaittys head the Red Tipi Descendants, a family group dedicated to perpetuating American Indian culture and customs.
Hours on Friday are noon to 9 p.m.; Jan. 13, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Jan. 14, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for ages 12-16 and $4 for children 6-12; under 6, free. Senior citizens pay $5.
