California Football magazine has named former Crespi High running back Russell White its high school offensive player of the decade.

White, the state’s all-time leading rusher with 5,998 yards and 94 touchdowns, will be a sophomore at Cal this fall. He was one of seven Valley-area athletes honored in the magazine’s latest edition.

Jeff Bregel, an offensive guard at Kennedy who competed at USC and for the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League, was named to the all-decade team along with White.

The magazine’s defensive team included former Antelope Valley standout Tommie Smith at safety and Randy Austin of Canyon at inside linebacker.

Notre Dame’s Errol Small, Canyon’s Clint Beauer and Reseda’s Jason Keiderling were honored for their performances this past season.

Small, a running back, was named to the first-team offense. Beauer, who tied for seventh in the state with 62 receptions and had a state-best 16.6 yards per catch, was a second-team receiver and Keiderling, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound lineman, was also on the second team.

Fick, a Newbury Park resident, was an assistant baseball coach at Thousand Oaks High the past three years. He is batting .281 for the Legends.

Andy Skeels, a former Thousand Oaks High standout, was traded to the New York Yankees organization from the San Diego Padres for a minor-league infielder. Skeels, who played for Riverside of the Class A California League last season, set a University of Arkansas single-season record in 1987 with 18 home runs.
