EMPIRE LEAGUE GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Cypress Defeats Esperanza, Moves Into Tie

Cypress High School, behind the scoring of Stacie Kosaka and Cheryl Murakoshi, defeated Esperanza, 59-47, at Esperanza Thursday night. The teams are tied for the league lead with 7-1 records.
Kosaka scored 21 points and Murakoshi had 18. Guard Frances Oda added 10 for Cypress.
Earlier this season, Cypress lost to Esperanza, 65-37.
Jennifer Harney scored 14 points for Esperanza, including three three-point shots. Cypress is 14-8 overall; Esperanza is 16-4.
In another league game:
Loara 48, El Dorado 31--Center Tracy Titus, a 6-foot-2 junior, scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Loara at El Dorado. Titus also had five blocked shots and five steals for Loara (11-11, 4-4).
Teresa Korte led El Dorado with 11 points. Loara took a 12-2 first-quarter lead and stretched it to 35-14 after three quarters.
