A 34-year-old man was fatally injured Sunday in a head-on collision on Interstate 8 east of Sports Arena Boulevard.
Scott Hillman of San Diego died after his car was struck head-on by a pickup driven by John Yamauchi, 36, of Imperial Beach at 10 a.m., said a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol. Yamauchi was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Yamauchi was westbound on I-8 when his vehicle crossed over the center divider and collided with Hillman’s vehicle, authorities said.
Debris from the accident struck a third car driven by Dana Mateski but the driver of that car escaped injury.
