Collins Holds Off Familiar Foes to Win Surfing Event

Richie Collins of Newport Beach held off three surfers from San Clemente on Sunday to win a professional event in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
Collins, the eighth-ranked surfer in the world, finished ahead of Jim Hogan, Dino Andino and Shane Beschen in the first Professional Surfing Assn. of America tour event of the season. Collins won $7,400.
