Driver Burns to Death in Dune Buggy Crash
A dune buggy flipped and burst into flames Monday in rugged terrain northeast of Tujunga, killing its driver, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
The driver, who was burned beyond recognition, was not immediately identified. He was pronounced dead at the scene, a trail in Haines Canyon just north of Mt. Lukens in Angeles National Forest that is a popular site for all-terrain vehicle enthusiasts, Officer Clifford Wallace said.
Two friends of the victim called authorities from the first house they could find, more than a mile south of the crash, Wallace said.
