GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Ruiz Leads Kennedy Over Santiago
Junior point guard Valerie Ruiz scored 39 points, including six three-point shots, and had 11 steals to lead Kennedy High School to a 70-42 victory over host Santiago in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Monday.
Michelle Harris added 15 points for Kennedy (12-10, 8-4).
Becky Alcock had 21 points for Santiago (6-15, 3-9).
In other Garden Grove League girls’ basketball:
La Quinta 82, Bolsa Grande 33--Amy Jalewalia had 36 points, 10 rebounds and four assists as host La Quinta (21-2, 12-0) won its 52nd consecutive league game.
Rancho Alamitos 62, Los Amigos 56--Shellie Tsuji had 19 points for visiting Rancho Alamitos. Garden Grove 50, Pacifica 33--Melanie Dear had 17 points and 11 rebounds for host Garden Grove (11-9, 7-5).
