La Quinta Gets First Victory of Season

La Quinta High School won its first boys’ basketball game of the season Monday night, defeating Bolsa Grande, 73-68, in an overtime Garden Grove League game at La Quinta.
La Quinta’s Lloyd Bennett tied the score with a jump shot with about 18 seconds remaining in regulation.
Justin Sogoian had 27 points and 12 rebounds for La Quinta (1-19 overall and 1-11 in the Garden Grove League), which was the only winless team in the county.
“We’ve played well enough to win quite a few games and finally had a couple of things fall our way,” La Quinta Coach Jim Perry said.
Hinh Bui scored 22 points and Sy Sayarath scored 21 for Bolsa Grande (7-12, 5-7).
