CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : NEWPORT BEACH : Wife-Killer Ignored Restraining Order
- Share via
A Newport Beach man disobeyed a court order to stay away from his estranged wife and harassed her on several occasions in the weeks before he shot her to death, according to court records. Lee Jerry Kastle, 43, was apparently very distraught over his recent divorce from former world-class skier Patricia Kastle, 26, and had tried several times to see her, despite a temporary restraining order that stated he could not come within 100 yards of her, court papers show. Lee Kastle shot Patricia Kastle in the head Monday in full view of neighbors at a mobile home park, then killed himself. Friends said Patricia Kastle was from Austria and was a member of the 1984 Swiss Olympic team. She was a granddaughter of Anton Kastle, founder of Kastle Skis. Lee Kastle took her last name when they married.
