Dutch Beat U.S. in Field Hockey
Wietske De Ruiter scored two goals to lead the Netherlands to a 2-0 victory over the United States Thursday in the USA Trophy women’s field hockey tournament at East Los Angeles College.
De Ruiter scored both goals on first-half corner shots. She has all four of the Netherlands’ goals and all have come on corner shots.
The Netherlands outshot the United States, 11-3, all U.S. shots coming in the second half against Dutch goalie Jacqueline Toxopeus.
In Thursday’s other game, Australia beat Canada, 4-1.
