F.Y.I. / CLASSIC CUTS
Just when you thought the post-holiday sale season was over, the price slashing is getting serious. Especially on men’s wear. Pleated, classic-cut, never-go-out-of-style pants in wools and gabardines are $100, down 30%, at Clacton and Frinton. Slightly flashier models in washed silk charmeuse, by Emil Ruttenberg, are half price ($89) at H. Lorenzo. Both stores are in Los Angeles.
Sweaters, especially cashmere, are worth the sale search. For women, they’re marked down from $295 to $177 at Cottonwares in Santa Monica, where men’s cotton knit polo shirts in every imaginable color are marked down from $35. to $20.
For Valentine’s Day presents, there are heart-shaped pendants with semi-precious stones, originally $182, now on sale at Faux body ornaments for $68.25. Wilder Place has one-of-a-kind sterling silver rings for $40, half of their original price, and an unusual assortment of marquetry (wood inlay) earrings and pins reduced 70%--some marked as low as $19.
