Judge Blocks Liens Against Bank: A U.S. District Court judge ruled Tuesday that Wells Fargo Bank does not have to put up a bond while it appeals a $700,000 judgment won by an Orange County developer who had briefly tied up all of the bank’s California property. Judge Edward Rafeedie agreed with attorneys for Wells Fargo who argued that federally chartered banks are exempt from having to file bonds on appeal. Developer Ted Hays was awarded the judgment after a jury found that Wells Fargo had mistakenly issued checks in the refinancing of his Orange County property to the wrong person.
