MOSCOW — The capital of the Soviet Asian republic of Tadzhikistan erupted in ethnic attacks, arson and looting, and the government introduced a state of emergency today, the official Tass press agency said.
Musafar Madzhidov, correspondent for official radio and TV in the city of Dushanbe, said an unknown number of people had been killed and more than 70 injured.
