Judge Grants Eastern Delay: A federal judge in New York gave Eastern Airlines just eight more days to submit a plan to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Miami-based Eastern had asked for a 30-day extension. Judge Burton R. Lifland, who is overseeing Eastern’s bankruptcy, extended the airline’s exclusive right to submit a reorganization plan until Feb. 20, after which the court will entertain plans from creditors or other groups. The exclusivity period had been scheduled to end Monday.
