SOUTHERN SECTION BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS : Edison Goes Inside to Overpower Agoura
GOURA — son High School, employing an overpowering inside attack, defeated Agoura, 67-51, in a 4-AA playoff game Friday at Agoura.
Bill Martineau had 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead Edison (19-8). Brandon Jessie added 16 points and seven rebounds. Agoura (14-9) was held to a season-low 14 rebounds.
“We felt like we were much stronger inside and that’s where we went,” Edison Coach Jon Borchert said.
Edison led, 36-25, at halftime and the lead grew to 19 points after three minutes of the third quarter. During a 15-second span, Martineau had a spinning, one-handed slam and Jessie followed with a two-fisted jam.
“They were emotional plays,” Borchert said.
