Roger & Reality
Re: “Roger and Reality” (Feb. 11): I believe the Peter Rainer and others are perhaps missing the crucial point to Michael Moore’s infractions. OK, so he restaged events; he “lied to tell the truth” but beyond that he stirred up a flurry of emotions through juxtaposition of image and sound. He coyly manipulated his case--editorializing rather than documenting. It’s symbiotic; he’s driven home not only these events of Flint, Mich., but his subtext as well. If we are to be told a story with blinders on, then that story should be called fiction.
