Binion Proposal for Laguna Niguel

Due process was violated, as proper public notice was not given to the community at large for the hearing that determined the fate of the Jack Binion property in the Laguna Niguel Council Chambers Feb. 6.
All other items on the agenda were given specific, detailed descriptions, but the only mention in the agenda of the Binion hearing was “Parcel Map 89-297”--which could be understood only by a developer, and not everyday citizens interested in halting the continued clear-cutting of ridgelines.
I personally know of 12 people who called and were told that there was nothing called Binion on the agenda.
The fact that the Laguna Niguel City Council denied Laguna Beach’s appeal with a 4-1 vote (after burying the Binion appeal in their agenda) causes me to wonder what the Laguna Niguel council is trying to hide.
Laguna Niguel’s harsh decision to remove Laguna Beach’s voice from jointly determining the fate of South Laguna’s environmentally sensitive ridgeline certainly does not match the Laguna Niguel council’s campaign promises of concern for our environment.
