Pentagon Surpluses
The $30 billion worth of military supplies did not surprise me. I was an Army grunt from 1981 to 1984, both airborne and mechanized infantry. Our equipment in the mechanized infantry was of Vietnam-era vintage. We were always short of supplies. I wondered then and am still wondering now why we’re short of supplies.
I’m still active in the Army Reserves and I’m always getting the same answer: We’re short of supplies. I was there. What a waste of surplus equipment!
