PLACENTIA : Boy, 10, Rests After Mauling by 2 Dogs

Ten-year-old Adam Bolt rested a little uncomfortably Sunday, a day after an attack by two dogs left him with severe wounds on his neck, arm, leg and upper body.

“He was up part of the night because he had a little trouble sleeping,” said his mother, Joni. “He’s pretty sore.”

On Saturday afternoon, two snapping dogs attacked and mauled Adam as he played on a lawn in the 1600 block of Orchard Drive. Adam ran from the animals, but they caught him as he tried to escape into a nearby building. The dogs left Adam alone only after neighbors came to drive them off.

The attack, Joni Bolt said, was unprovoked.

“Those dogs came out of nowhere,” Joni Bolt said Sunday. “They were vicious animals, and they just went after him.”

Adam received 150 stitches at Placentia-Linda Community Hospital and was released the same day.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the mauling, which occurred outside the Villa Tierra apartment complex in Placentia. The two dogs, which police described as “German shepherd mixes,” were killed after they attacked officers who cornered them in a nearby oil field.

The dogs’ owners have not been located, and police declined to give specifics about the status of the investigation.

The police did, however, make an unexpected visit to the Bolts’ apartment Sunday.

“They brought Adam a cake,” Joni Bolt said. “Four or five officers came over here, and he really thought it was great.”
