Fraternities, Sororities Ban Pledging Process

ST. LOUIS — Leaders of eight national black fraternities and sororities have announced an agreement to eliminate hazing by banning the pledging process.
A resolution passed Saturday declared that each organization should develop its own initiation process limited to ceremonial rituals. The leaders said the resolution stemmed from their concern about hazing excesses at some colleges.
