Washington 73, Carson 34--Senior guard Detra Lockhart scored 22 points and sophomore center Charisse Sampson had 17 points and 23 rebounds to lead the top-seeded and defending champion Generals (26-3) past the Colts (22-7).
Van Nuys 60, Narbonne 43--The second-seeded Wolves (22-3) overpowered the Gauchos behind 26 points and 17 rebounds from senior center Stacie Toon. Guard Tina Means added 18 points. Shasta Paris led Narbonne (18-8) with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
SOUTHERN SECTION
Long Beach Poly 61, Lakewood 46--Ron Hannibal scored 21 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Jackrabbits (25-2) in a 5-AA Division semifinal at Long Beach City College.
Long Beach Poly, reaching the final for the first time since 1984, will play Lynwood, a 63-60 winner over Santa Monica St. Monica, for the title.
Willie McGinest, Melvin Jones and Yikeen Craddock each added 12 points for Poly. Lakewood (18-11), which lost to Poly twice in Moore League play, has been eliminated in the semifinals in each of the past four seasons.
Glendora 50, Dominguez 46--Randy Rubio scored 14 points and J.J. O’Laughlin, an All-Southern Section quarterback who has signed a national letter of intent with Illinois, added 12 points as Glendora upset the top-seeded team in the field in a 4-AA semifinal game at Cal Poly Pomona.
Glendora will play Compton, an 86-73 winner in overtime over Huntington Beach Edison, in the final.
Michael Whittiker led Dominguez (23-5) with 16 points.
Compton 86, Edison 73--James Williams had 30 points and 20 rebounds and Darnell Patterson added 20 points as the Tarbabes won in overtime and advanced to a Southern Section final for the first time since 1969.
Compton (21-6) will play Glendora in the 4-AA final Thursday at the Bren Center at UC Irvine as part of a doubleheader. Artesia will play San Marcos in the 4-A final.
Artesia 75, Burbank Burroughs 45--All-American forward Ed O’Bannon scored 28 points as the Pioneers (24-3) won at Cerritos College to advance to the 4-A final for the second consecutive year.
Artesia increased a 25-12 lead after the first quarter to a 61-31 margin after three quarters. Junior guard DeAndre Austin added 17 points for the Pioneers.
Artesia will play Santa Barbara San Marcos, a 52-39 winner over La Mirada, in the final.
Oxnard Santa Clara 70, Tehachapi 58--Shon Tarver, a 6-5 senior guard, had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Saints (23-0) in a 2-AA semifinal at Ventura College.
Santa Clara will play Verbum Dei, an 87-73 winner over Banning, in the 2-AA final Saturday morning at the Sports Arena.
