Deputy to Be Hired in Anti-Drug Effort

LYNWOOD — The Lynwood Unified School District Board of Education has approved the hiring of a sheriff’s deputy to provide an anti-drug education program for more than 2,000 fifth- and sixth-grade students. The program, to be supported by federal funds, was unanimously approved by the five-member board.
The program will cost $56,600. A sheriff’s deputy will be paid $25,000 to run the four-month project. The remaining money will be used to purchase anti-drug prevention materials and for training 72 teachers in anti-drug prevention to assist the deputy.
