California IN BRIEF : GLEN AVON : Lion Rips Off Part of Its Owner’s Arm

A caged African lion ripped off part of its owner’s arm while the animal keeper was feeding it, authorities said. Charles McEntire, 57, was listed in stable condition Friday after undergoing surgery at Riverside Community Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. Riverside County sheriff’s deputies and California Department of Forestry rescue personnel were called to McEntire’s Glen Avon exotic animal compound late Thursday and found him with his left arm severed at the elbow, said Riverside County Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Borden.
