East German Gabi Kohlisch, in her final race, won the women’s singles event at the 27th World Luge Championships at Calgary.
Kohlisch, 26, navigated down the 1,050-meter track at Canada Olympic Park in a combined time of 1 minute 32.553 seconds in two runs to edge Julia Antipova of the Soviet Union and West Germany’s Jana Bode.
Kohlisch’s trainer, Franz Schneider, died two weeks ago after suffering a heart attack in his car and crashing.
