2nd Man Arrested in Kidnaping, Robbery
A second suspect has been arrested in the kidnaping of a savings and loan officer who was held captive in her Palmdale home for 36 hours last week before being rescued during a failed robbery attempt at her Newhall office, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday.
Tyrone McGraw, 29, described as a transient from the Pomona area, was arrested Tuesday night after deputies pulled him over in the 3600 block of Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena for driving without license plates or illuminated headlights, sheriff’s deputies said. A check of the vehicle’s identification number revealed that the red Toyota he was driving had been reported stolen in the Newhall robbery attempt.
McGraw was arrested on suspicion of robbery, grand theft of an auto and giving false information to police officers. He was being held without bail in the Temple City sheriff’s station.
An alleged accomplice in the Feb. 23 kidnaping and robbery attempt, Brian Keith Simms, 29, of Duarte, was arrested when he tried to flee the attempted robbery of the savings and loan.
