An Oceanside man was in fair condition Monday after he was shot once in the chest by an unknown assailant, police said.
Jason Eimers, 19, was shot about 6:30 p.m. Sunday after he answered a knock at his door in the 700 block of Flora Drive, Officer Chip Morin said. Eimers was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital-La Jolla. The bullet was not removed and is lodged near his spine, Morin said.
Although police said they have determined that the shooting was not gang-related, they do not have a motive or any suspects, Morin said.
