Ohio State track Coach Russ Rogers said he did not act as an agent for American athletes on the European track circuit in violation of NCAA rules, as was reported by the daily sports newspaper, The National.
“I never acted as an agent,” Rogers said. “Nor did I ask for a fee from these kids or anything.”
Rogers, an assistant coach on the 1988 U.S. Olympic team, was reported to have been an agent for some members of the Olympic team. The newspaper said Rogers allowed his agent status to influence his selection of sprinters on the relay team.
The National also said Rogers violated NCAA rules by acting as an agent for amateur athletes in Europe.
