IRS Ahead of Last Year’s Pace: The Internal Revenue Service is ahead of last year’s pace in processing income tax returns. Through April 6, it had processed almost 57 million returns, or about 90% of the 66.3 million it had received. At this time last year, the IRS had received 64.7 million returns and processed 82%, or 53.3 million.
