ANAHEIM — Dan Castro and Robert Fernandez led Anaheim High School to a 9-6 victory over Fullerton Wednesday in the championship game of the Anaheim Lions tournament at Glover Stadium.
Castro, who had three hits, had a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth to boost Anaheim’s lead to 6-0.
Fernandez had a no-hitter for 5 2/3 innings but lost it when Ladd Brunner tripled to the gap in right-center field. He then scored on a single by David Chacon, which cut the lead to 6-1.
Fullerton’s Bobby Patel hit a three-run home run in the sixth to cut the lead to 6-4.
Anaheim scored three runs in bottom of the sixth to take a 9-4 lead.
“Believe it or not, Fernandez has been our best pitcher even though its his first win,” Anaheim Coach Dave Torres said. “We have not been able to score runs for him.”
