Afcom Seeks Protection: Afcom, which once ranked among the 100 largest home builders in California, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Sunset Beach firm listed total assets of $500 and total liabilities of $89,581 though it said it owed a related company, Sonju Construction, more than $800,000. Sonia Sonju, a former Cypress councilwoman, is listed as Afcom’s president in the filing. She was not available for comment.
