SHORT TAKES : Madonna Alters Tour in Whisper

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Throat problems have forced Madonna to cancel or reschedule some of the final U.S. shows of her “Blond Ambition” tour.
The singer, who appears in the film “Dick Tracy,” which opened over the weekend, has chronic laryngitis, Warner Bros. Records said.
Tuesday’s concert at the Meadowlands was moved to next Monday, and Saturday’s show has been canceled. Shows this Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday will go on as scheduled.
Throat problems also forced the singer to cancel a Friday concert in Philadelphia. It was the third show canceled in the last three weeks by the singer, who started the tour six weeks ago.
