Altadena : Council Endorses Day One
The Altadena Town Council voted unanimously Tuesday to support the efforts of Day One, a grass-roots program whose aim is to clean up areas plagued by alcohol- and drug-related crime.
Francisca Neumann, executive director of Day One, asked each of the 10 council members present to be on the alert for neighborhoods in which such crimes occur and to report them to the Altadena substation of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Such areas will be targeted for the establishment of Neighborhood Watch groups.
Members of the Sheriff’s Department joined Anita and Walter Martin, Neighborhood Watch leaders on Royce Street in West Altadena, in attesting to the success of combined resident and department efforts since a fatal shooting occurred on the street last December.
