City Directors Tuesday approved a Japanese company as a new partner in the $50.5-million Marengo Block development project.
AM Secure Properties, a 2-year-old subsidiary of the Meiyu Corp., a Japanese development company, will join the Janss Corp. of Santa Monica in forming the new partnership, Janss Pasadena Associates.
The new partnership will construct 350 rental units, 11,000 square feet of retail space and underground parking for 540 cars at Marengo Avenue and Holly Street.
The Janss Corp., owned by developer William Janss, will maintain responsibility for converting the city’s old police station into 44 units of low-income senior housing.
