Single-Family Home Growth
The growth in single-family detached homes was 13% countywide during the 1980s, with the 93% increase in Yorba Linda the largest in any city. Outside of Yorba Linda, most of the action took place in South County--specifically San Clemente, Irvine, San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Beach. Just four cities have fewer single-family detatched homes now than they did as the ‘80s began.
The largest concentrations of homes are in Anaheim, Huntington Beach and Santa Ana. Between them they have more than one-quarter of these homes in the county that are within city limits. Here’s how the cities rank in terms of percentage change from 1980 to 1990:
