NEW YORK — Country rocker Steve Earle says songs are literature on wheels. Sort of.
“Songwriting is literature you can read in your car,” he said in an interview in today’s New York Times.
Earle said writers Ernest Hemingway and Graham Greene influenced his life and music.
“I look at them as bookends because to me they’re polar opposites,” he said.
Earle’s album, “The Hard Way,” was released recently by MCA.
