Moves in Europe: UniStor Corp., a Laguna Hills manufacturer of computer peripherals, said Wednesday it is consolidating its European operations and setting up an assembly facility in the Netherlands this fall.
The company is also establishing a European sales and marketing subsidiary in France and a distribution office in Einhoven, the Netherlands, said Michael Campbell, chief executive.
“We may try to manufacture some of the computer peripherals in Spain because of the low cost and the opportunities the government has offered through subsidies,” he said. The company currently has manufacturing facilities in Laguna Hills and Taiwan.
About 40% of UniStor’s business is done with Western European countries, Campbell said.
“As the European countries become more unified as 1992 nears, we feel that by warehousing and having our sales and marketing force there, we can better service our distributors,” said Chuck Jackson, vice president of European sales.
The company, which specializes in products for Apple Computer’s Macintosh personal computer, plans to introduce products for IBM personal computers later this year, Jackson said.
