State’s Top JC Rusher Transferring to CSUN

Adan Avina, a running back from East Los Angeles College, will transfer to Cal State Northridge, according to East L. A. Coach Al Padilla.
Avina was the state’s leading junior college rusher last season. In 10 games, the Montebello High product ran for a school-record 1,772 yards in 280 carries, including a 314-yard performance in a 47-35 win over Rio Hondo.
Lynn Cain set the previous East L. A. record of 1,666 yards in 12 games in 1974, leading the Huskies to the state championship.
Padilla said that Frank Rodriguez, an All-Foothill Conference selection at safety for the Huskies last season, also will transfer to Northridge.
