Beer sales by Japanese brewers in the first half of this year surged 8% to about 231 million cases, Japanese makers reported.
Kirin Brewery Co. remained the top brewer, with a 49% share, followed by Asahi Breweries with 25%, Sapporo Breweries with 18% and Suntory with 8%.
The companies attributed the sales growth mainly to introduction of new products.
