Ramon Ramos, whose rookie season with the Portland Trail Blazers was cut short by an auto accident that left him in a coma, was placed on waivers.
Ramos, a 22-year-old native of Puerto Rico, has been undergoing extensive outpatient therapy since he was released from a hospital July 2.
The Trail Blazers said that he was waived so that his salary would not count against the team’s salary cap.
The 6-foot-8 forward was activated Dec. 6 but had yet to play a minute in the NBA when the accident occurred 10 days later.
